Wire to Mono Knot

Wire to Mono Knot

This is a handy knot for when the toothy critters are around, and you want to add a wire bite guard / tippet or when attaching a trace of wire to monofilament or fluorocarbon line.

1. Double over your wire, creating a bend and around 10cm of tag end to complete the knot. You can then lay your mono (pink) down the middle of the wire bend and the length of the wire tag, before looping it back, ensuring you leave enough tag end to complete the knot.

2. Wrap the mono under the wire and around both lines.

3. Continue to wrap the monofilament in close wraps around both lines and back toward the wire bend.

4. Complete approximately 7 close wraps and you are ready to finish the knot.

5. Pass the mono tag end above the centre strand of mono and under the wire, exiting near the wire bend.

6. Pull evenly on the main mono line to tighten down the loops, ensuring that they gather and bed down neatly.

7. You can now hold onto the wire and mono mainline to tighten the knot fully. Trim the tag ends and you have completed the wire to mono knot.
