21. Rigging Stinger Hooks

Stinger hooks are additional hooks added to your soft plastic rig, in this case, to increase the hook coverage and in turn hook up rate of your soft plastic presentation. You can often avoid having to use stinger hooks by selecting the appropriate jighead and plastic for your target species and technique, varying your retrieve, adding Pro-Cure scent or downsizing your presentation. However if you are still getting short strikes or missing hook ups than a stinger hook is an option.

Stinger hooks are available in a variety of commercially manufactured models that can be looped onto your hook and secured with a sliding bead, or alternatively you can use a single hook or treble attached with monofilament, fluorocarbon, braid or wire. A needle is handy for threading line through your soft plastic to attach stingers.
