Snell Knot (Traditional)
A snell knot is designed to create a reliable, straight pull and is ideal when attaching a hook with an offset eye, or when attaching multiple hooks along the line in a series. This multiple hook rig is commonly used for whole fish and squid, or when fishing slab baits, with the ability to space the hooks to suit the size of the bait.

Pass the line through the eye of the hook, entering on the front side of the hook. If you are attaching additional hooks, ensure that you leave the required length in the tag end.

Ensure the line runs down the back of the hook shank and create a loop, passing the tag end back under the hook.

Pass the tag end back through the eye of the hook and lay it back down the shank of the hook.

Pass the loop over the point of the hook, so that the loop wraps around the hook shank and both the mainline and tag. If your tag is long to attach additional hooks, ensure that it passes entirely back through the loop.

Continue to wrap the loop over the hook, creating approximately 6-7 wraps.

Pull on the main line to tighten the knot, ensuring that the wraps bed down neatly.

If you are connecting multiple hooks you can now repeat the knot to attach your additional hook/s at the required distance apart.
