Perfection Loop

Perfection Loop

The perfection loop is a popular knot for attaching a lure or fly to monofilament or fluorocarbon line or leader, with the loop allowing freedom of movement to maximise action.

1. Commence the knot by creating a basic overhand knot in the line, leaving a reasonable length of tag end to work with.

2. Pass the tag end through the eye of the lure, fly or hook, ensuring that the overhand knot remains open.

3. You can now pass the tag end of the line back through the overhand knot and then over the top of the main line.

4. Thread the tag end through the first small gap in the overhand knot, passing over and then under the line.

5. Continue out of the other side of the overhand knot, again going over and then under the line.

6. Start working the knot down, taking care to create the desired loop size for the lure, fly or hook.

7. Tighten down the knot by pulling on the main line. Trim the tag end and the perfection loop is ready to fish.
