Perfection Loop
The perfection loop is a popular knot for attaching a lure or fly to monofilament or fluorocarbon line or leader, with the loop allowing freedom of movement to maximise action.
-
Commence the knot by creating a basic overhand knot in the line, leaving a reasonable length of tag end to work with.
-
Pass the tag end through the eye of the lure, fly or hook, ensuring that the overhand knot remains open.
-
You can now pass the tag end of the line back through the overhand knot and then over the top of the main line.
-
Thread the tag end through the first small gap in the overhand knot, passing over and then under the line.
-
Continue out of the other side of the overhand knot, again going over and then under the line.
-
Start working the knot down, taking care to create the desired loop size for the lure, fly or hook.
-
Tighten down the knot by pulling on the main line. Trim the tag end and the perfection loop is ready to fish.
