Dropper Loop
A dropper loop can be tied in monofilament or fluorocarbon mainlines and leaders, and is often used to attach additional hooks, jigs or flies, or as a method of attaching a hook, jig or fly so that it stands out from the mainline or leader.
1. Create a loop in the mainline that crosses over itself.
2. Begin passing the closed loop over and around the mainline, while keeping the centre loop in place.
3. Create 4-6 wraps, ensuring the centre loop remains slightly open.
4. Pass the remaining section of the large loop back through the centre loop.
5. Moisten the line, and slowly work the wraps down tight while pulling the dropper loop to tighten.
6. The dropper loop can now be passed through the eye of a hook, swivel, jighead or lure and looped back over to lock it in place.
7. Keep the loop short to minimise twists and tangles.
