Canoe Man Loop

Designed for attaching a monofilament or fluorocarbon leader to a lure, fly or hook, while allowing freedom of movement, the Canoe Man Loop has been shown to test at around the same strength as a Perfection Loop.

It is crucial to ensure that you have the loops and steps correct when tying this knot and after a few runs through you should find it quick and easy to tie, which is the main reason anglers utilise this knot.

In terms of strength it tests slightly less than the Lefty's Loop Knot or Rapala Loop Knot and it has proven to be a stronger connection when attaching with monofilament compared to fluorocarbon. Fish on!

  1. Start by creating a loop in the line, followed by a smaller loop. It's important the loops follow the same pattern of crossing over the front of the line.

  2. Take the head of the first larger loop and pass it through the smaller loop in an over-then-under fashion. This creates a third loop. We can now pinch the loops between our thumb and pointer finger to hold them in position.

  3. Pass the tag end through the eye of the lure, fly or hook.

  4. We now thread the tag end through the third loop that was created in step 2.

  5. Slowly work the knot down by pulling back on the mainline while also pulling the tag end, ensuring that the end loop retains the desired size.

  6. Moisten the knot and bed it down tight.

  7. Trim the tag end and your Canoe Man Loop knot is ready to fish.
