Okuma products offer customers excellent value for money, along with the added confidence of our 10 year warranty for reels and one year warranty for rods and combos. Tackle Tactics warrants to the original purchaser that this product will be free from defects in material and/or workmanship for this warranted period.
To be eligible for warranty you must register your product at www.okumafishing.com.au within 30 days of the purchase date.
No rod or reel will be eligible for warranty, repair or replacement without proof of purchase. The warranty period will commence from the date of purchase, to the original purchaser, for all rods and reels purchased in Australia after July 1, 2017.
Only products that were manufactured by or on behalf of Okuma and purchased in Australia from a recognised Okuma distributor, wholesaler or retailer, will be covered by this warranty.
This warranty does not cover loss caused by fire, water, theft, vermin or insect infestation, normal wear and tear, abusive use, accident, improper use, lack of maintenance or work such as repair, modification or servicing carried out by anyone other than an authorised Okuma Service Technician. This warranty does not cover claims for incidental or consequential damage resulting from or in connection to this rod or reel, within the extent permitted by law. Evidence of unauthorised alterations, abuse or damage as a result of neglect and/or failure to provide the recommended maintenance and care will void this warranty.
The 10 year warranty does not apply to commercial, professional or charter operators, a 12 month warranty applies in this case.
Below is a guide to assist both the original purchaser and fishing tackle retailer to identify complaints that reflect normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect or lack of maintenance that will not be covered by warranty.
Normal wear and tear reflected in noisy or worn bearings, sticky or worn drags. Corrosion associated with saltwater intrusion or neglect. Damage associated with neglect, including treading on items, dropping or incorrect storage. Evidence of internal or external damage due to being disassembled and/or reassembled incorrectly.
This warranty does not cover the costs of replacing and maintaining consumable parts that have ceased working due to normal wear and tear, including bearings, drag washers and other parts classified as consumable.
If you are a consumer in Australia, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Care & Maintenance
Okuma rods and reels offer excellent value for money, including cutting edge technology without the price tag often associated with these high end specifications. With a little care and maintenance your Okuma will provide you with years of reliable service. Here's a few simple steps you can follow to care for your reel, especially if fishing in saltwater.
-
Use a light spray of water or dampened cloth to remove any salt, sand, dirt, etc.
-
Apply a water displacing lubricant via a cloth or spray.
-
Lubricate all moving parts lightly with oil or grease. Remember that an excess of oil or grease can hinder the performance of the reel.
-
Have your reel serviced annually by a recognised Okuma service specialist.
DO NOT:
-
Leave saltwater, sand, dirt, etc. on your rod or reel.
-
Hose your reel with any pressure as it may force salt, dirt and water inside the reel.
-
Use your rod or reel for anything outside its intended purpose.
-
Attempt any repairs or maintenance unless you are fully qualified.
All the best with the fishing, here's to bent rods and screaming drags.
